Commitment to Accessibility

The Area Housing Authority of the County of Ventura (AHACV) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually work to improve the user experience for all visitors and apply relevant accessibility standards to enhance usability and inclusivity.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for improving accessibility for people with disabilities. AHACV strives to be conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. While we work toward full accessibility, some parts of the website or digital content may not yet fully meet accessibility standards.

Legacy PDFs and Non-Accessible Content

We strive to ensure that all new and updated digital content is accessible. However, some older or legacy PDF documents may not currently be fully accessible. Known issues may include:

  • Missing alternative text for images
  • Improper document structure
  • Untagged or poorly tagged elements
  • Incompatibility with some assistive technologies

To improve accessibility, we are actively working to:

  • Prioritize and remediate frequently accessed legacy PDFs
  • Replace highly complex, inaccessible documents with accessible HTML pages or accessible Word documents where appropriate
  • Implement a “born-accessible” publishing process for all newly created documents and content

Accessible Document Formats

Some documents on this website are provided in Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Excel format. If you do not have the native software installed, you can use the following free viewer tools:

Telecommunications Accessibility (TTY & Relay Services)

We welcome calls from individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech disabilities.

  • Dial 711 for Relay Services: You can contact us through the free nationwide Telecommunications Relay Service by dialing 7-1-1. A Communications Assistant will relay your typed text from your TTY device to our team and read our spoken responses back to you.
  • Direct TTY Line: If you prefer to bypass relay services, you can call our dedicated direct TTY line at (805) 480-9119.

Feedback and Assistance

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of AHACV. If you encounter accessibility barriers or need assistance accessing any content, please contact us:

  • Phone: (805) 480-9991
  • TTY Line: (805) 480-9119
  • Email: accessibility@ahacv.org
  • Visitor & Mailing Address: 1400 West Hillcrest Drive, Newbury Park, CA 91320

We aim to respond to accessibility requests and feedback within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 3 to 5 business days).

If you require an accessible version of a legacy PDF or other document that is not yet fully accessible, please contact us, and we will work to provide an accessible alternative format.
