Funding for the Section 8 program is allocated annually by the federal government through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Due to the extreme need for assistance in our area, there is not enough funding to assist everyone.

Typically, the Area Housing Authority has the funding and vouchers available to process only a few households from our waiting list each month. With several hundred households already on the waiting list, it is easy to understand why the waiting time for assistance can stretch into years.
