Formerly the Palm Motel, the Area Housing Authority, in partnership with the County of Ventura, purchased this complex in 2003. This site was originally a motel which was illegally converted to apartments. Code violations along with significant health and safety issues were just some of the challenges the Area Housing Authority faced.

SummerWind features covered parking, new landscaping, new retaining walls and driveway. Each unit has been completely refurbished with new bathroom and kitchen fixtures, heating and air conditioning units, and new flooring and counters.
